Green On Me

Yes, you've seen this ensemble in my previous post because this is exactly what I wore during Luis' recital. You will most likely see more of the green blazer in the coming posts, and the next. The green blazer has become a wardrobe staple like I can't leave home without. An item that I absolutely need ready and waiting in my closet if I want to influence how my day would be like. It has somehow made up the basis of my wardrobe recently. It has in fact seen my workplace, the mall, coffee shop, and has been a Sunday outfit too.

Green is the color most commonly associated with nature and the preservation of the environment... I'm all for that. I've gone green (in my previous post), and my liking for it is here to stay.

Of course, a shiny shimmery flats made the look more polished.

Yamaha Recital 2

Luis joins the year-end recital of Yamaha School of Music on December 8, 2012. My 8 year old played Greensleeves, a traditional English folk song, ballad forever associated with Henry VIII, in classical guitar. Unlike his first musical recital during summer of 2012, where he played simpler piece, Andantino, which is an Italian tempo, Greensleeves is more complex and dramatic.

His ever loyal fans wouldn't have missed it for the world.

There you go. Till his next recital...

Say Pleats

A timeless piece - the pleated skirt! Like fashion magic, it adds fullness to the hips (big help for those lacking in this area), and therefore gives a seemingly sexier looking waist (although not too obvious in the following photos).

This Forever 21 pleated faux leather skirt features a hidden zipper placket and hook-eye closure at the side, banded waistband, raw edge hemline and fully lined. And because it's lightweight, it allows freedom of movement. Moves gorgeously as I walk, in fact, its little twirling catches attention. It being in faux leather, it gives a little drama on design effect too.

For a more sophisticated look, this adorable skirt pairs perfectly with a light colored top and killer heels.

Could be a work outfit...

Or a night out ensemble...

Alternatively, you could pair it up with a more casual top and some wedges and you have the perfect Saturday get-up!

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion represents an extremely important milestone in one's spiritual life. A very important occasion for Catholic families which signifies a rite of passage into the body of the church. It is also a public declaration of ones Catholic faith.

It's such a wonderful opportunity to be able to share this special event with my son. Having reached the appropriate age and spiritual maturity to accept the Holy Sacrament, Luis' first reception of the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist happened on November 25, 2012 at the Church of the GESU Ateneo de Manila University.

Luis has been waiting for this day to happen for the longest time. Every Sunday mass, he would ask me how it's like receiving the Body of Christ. He's been wanting to join in the communion queue with us.

Preparation involved memorizing the songs and responses in the mass guide folder given to them, daily practices in school and at home, and most importantly, the guidance and prayers from parents. I remember Luis' curiosity (and innocence) when he says (with eyes closed), "Mom, i'm prepared to receive Papa Jesus now. I hope He is as yummy as my favorite pepperoni pizza." And so, naturally more spiritual discussions came right after.

A few days before the day, he had his confession. He made a list of his supposed wrongdoings and even memorized them because according to him, Papa Jesus might think he's not being honest with Him. He would say (pardon me for breaking the seal of confidentiality here baby), "I'm sorry I cant help but overeat at times, especially when it's my favorite pizza. Mom told me that it's a sin to overeat. I just dont remember what this sin is called but i'm sure you know the word. I'm sorry for playing my gadgets too long. Mom said it's not good for the eyes, and my eyes came from You. I'm sorry for wishing that you would taste like pizza. I know now that You are more than that."

Finally, the day has come. Luis dressed in crisp white polo barong, black pants, black socks, and his new pair of shoes particularly bought for the occassion. I was in black and white dress to match his dapper look.

Shortly before the ceremony started, I whispered a short prayer to him, "May your relationship with Papa Jesus grow stronger and guide you through out your life. Love Him more."

Now he happily joins the family on queue for the Holy Eucharist and he always looks forward receiving Him. Congratulations baby!

Buying Spree Mode

It is during this time of the year when I feel most likely to give in to my inveterate habit of shopping till i drop. There must be something in the holiday air! Although that doesn't mean that my buying spree mode is in remission during the rest of the year. It's just that the month of December is in a class of its own. Oh yes, I admit. I need help restraining myself more particularly during the season.

Ironically as it may sound though, shopping is my therapy - like a short rest, a garden walk, a break from work. And the mall(although i started online shopping just recently), a breathing place. It has proven itself to be my most effective stressbuster. Like whenever I go home with tons of shopping bags in tow, I feel destressed like a spa feel. That sigh of relief when you're driving along EDSA because it's traffic-free? That feeling! I just cant turn the red signal light on until I have piles of receipts than money in my wallet. If I go home with excess bills in my purse, then something must have gone wrong. To put a little drama into it, shopping completes me. :-)

My current craving for anything bright has been met with my recent trip to the mall..

My indulgence for gold and glitter likewise...

My little obssession with nice fitting pairs of shorts as well...

And ofcourse, I did not take for granted my passion for shoes...

Naturally, I got stuff for Luis too, the love of my life, who, luckily, has not acquired my interest for shopping...

Whew! That's it for now. Headed out again....
