Not a Cocktail Dress

I wore this outfit at the major awards night of our annual convention held in Tagaytay a few days ago. The dress code actually says girls should be in cocktail dresses. Not that I am the non compliant type. There are just times that I am unwilling to go along with something. Aside from knowing that the occasion is semi-formal and there will be dancing afterwards, I opted for this chic and less elaborate one-piece wonder from Forever 21. Wearing a jumpsuit in lieue of a cocktail dress is such a refreshing alternative for evening.

If you’re tired of your typical going out outfits, now you know that you can still look totally glam without slipping into a sexy dress but instead, a jumpsuit right?

This Forever21 white jumpsuit features a pleated front, patch pockets, round neckline, elasticized drawstring waist, and single button placket open back for added sexiness. It being white and lightweight are added plus factors!

If you're not comfortable looking like you're in a onesie, adding a belt is the perfect way to help break up the look. And what's a more perfect clutch than this one to totally pull this look of.

Do I need to say that I pretty much enjoyed dancing the night away?

Let's Chase Pigeons One More Time

Luis and I were having a discussion last night about some of our dream travel destinations and we're trying to decide where to head next. He has a handful of places in mind, I have my own numbers as well. While he is gushing to have a return visit to Brussels, I am dying to go back to Dubai. And while we were deeply enmeshed in a sweet debate, there is no denying a common potent evocation of our love affair with The City of Paris.

There is no doubt that the world's most popular city destination Paris is giving Luis that extra sparkle every time he reminisces how he quartered the city 3 years ago. Let me share with you the following video showing how he aimlessly meandered around the front of the Notre Dame Cathedral sans un soin dans le monde.

No he did not catch any pigeons but I did capture this one perfect moment of happiness. How about that!

Luis Starts to Write - "What If"

Let me take a break from my outfit post for today and help me welcome a guest post courtesy of my 8 year old son Luis.

School day is over and so marks the start of summer vacation. Yay! I'm sure parents are equally excited as their kids are since this means a break from long hours of study time, early morning wake-up calls, tons of home works, science projects, pressure during exams wk... and the list goes on...

Fortunately, (or unfortunately for my kid), I'm the kind of mom who wouldn't let summer vacation pass by unproductive. As early as now, I have already prepared a list of Luis' to do things for summer. Don't get me wrong though, I do not rule with an iron fist. It bends at times. :)

One item in the list - writing narratives, both in English and Filipino. While there's so many parents who would need to push and even force their kids to start writing, mine is a different story. To my surprise, the lesson of the last quarter on writing narratives got Luis' attention. His excitement when he writes cannot be contained. He would share with excitement his every single piece which he makes in school, at home, and even in the car. His creative juices pouring as he writes with all his might, diversified/random topics I wouldn't expect a kid his age would come up with.

Since writing is a continuous process of learning and improving, I made it a point to only look, read and appreciate his articles, not correct nor edit anything. I want him to feel that writing is enjoyable and fun. As long as there's a plot going on (or even none at all), or a story that comes full circle (or maybe not), then I can ignore some of the grammatical errors, the gory details (oh yeah), and just appreciate the skill. I let him be as creative as he wants. I do not dictate. Everything is his own themes, titles & topics. The sky is the limit when it comes to writing, I would say. I am impressed at how he delves deeper into his passion and interests. I see his personality shining through.

Let me share with you his first (unedited) narrative which he wrote the first night of his summer vacation.

                           What If
Sometimes, I take a close look at stars at night. They shine so bright. But what if I was one of the stars? I might be miserable being still and shining so bright all night. But maybe not, because I could still enjoy the view and the many planets in space. And many people could also see me shining so bright at night. I could also take a close look at Mother Earth. What a gift! But if you don't like it,  accept the challenge. Just as my mom said, it's a cruel world. That's the end of my story.

Cute isn't it?  =)

As one proud mom, I want this site to be the medium where I could share Luis' narratives - like a guest post on my blog or something... and then eventually a regular contributor.  This will give him the opportunity to have a larger audience and a medium for self expression. And maybe through the comments left by others, he'll be more encouraged to write.

Till his next....

Lovin' in the Summertime

It's Summertime and you know what that means.
Gonna head down to the beach and do some beachy things.
It's Summertime, it feels just right.

It's Summertime and I just can't wait.
Gonna call you on the phone, gonna take you on a date.
It's Summertime and I hope you like steak.
Gonna take you to a restaurant, gonna eat enough till late.

It's Summertime luh-uh-loving.
It's loving in the Summertime. (It's Summertime!)
It's Summertime luh-uh-loving.
My baby, why can't you be mine?

It's Summertime and when dinner's done.
Gonna take you to the club, gonna dance and have some fun.
It's Summertime and when the end is near.
Gonna hold you very close.
Whisper "let's get out of here".

It's Summertime and I just can't wait.
Gonna call you on the phone, gonna take you on a date.
It's Summertime and I hope you like steak.
Gonna take you to a restaurant, and eat it at the lake.

It's Summertime luh-uh-loving.
It's loving in the Summertime. (It's Summertime!)
It's Summertime luh-uh-loving.
My baby, why can't you be mine?

Dress from Details; strappy sandals from VNC; neckpiece from Third&Folsom; SM accessories

For my 2 regular readers who do not watch the Regular Show, this is the shows Summertime Lovin' lyrics. And because Luis watches it, I gotta watch it too since it's rated TV-PG. It's more of an adult animated sitcom rather than a children's cartoon... although you could catch it at Cartoon Network. Am I sounding complicated or what? :=) Till next...

My Sneaker Boots

Retro style meets modern comfort in this hi top from Brash. It features a canvas and faux suede upper with matching laces and adjustable strap, padded insole, 3" hidden wedge and skid resistant outsole. They are very comfortable and stylish. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to stay on top of the newest trends.

Laid Back Sunday

A 'no makeup' make up is one of my obsessions! Just looking fresh and innocent, which is hard to come by. Lol. Well, at least I'm trying here... And I'm trying really hard! :) No harm in doing so right? Haha. No pain no gain!

Why the title? It's because 'I transform into one lazy girl on Sundays.' Don't you just feel naturally lazy on Sundays? Or is it just me? Or is it really just on Sundays? Lol. And the only look you could afford to have is something low key and uncontrived. This particular look took me just about 6 minutes to put together, tops.

Of course we all know that a little smoulder has it's place sometimes. But do you know that your natural undone self is perfect too? Or maybe not? Lol. It just feels so liberating when you don't have so much on, right?

Laid back clothing is the look for you if you're a lazy girl Sunday like me. It's cool and it means not really having to bother about clothing styles. Although it requires a certain amount of sense to be able to dress up in a casual way, it still is simpler and easier.

I love a laid back look. When I'm on it, I feel relaxed and comfy. It gives me the vibe that I'm on vacation mode. And flats do just the same on my feet.

Inner top from Maldita; Outer top from Forever 21; Boyfriend pants and belt from Zara; bazaar find flats; SM accessories

So there! What's a lazy girl to do if she wants to spend less than 5 minutes getting ready? Go laid back. But then again, although it may be a look that's informal and relaxed, remember it still is a fashion and a style. Do not take it to mean that it's acceptable to leave the house looking like you just rolled out of bed. It has never been. Sorry.

Green Suede Blazer

Wait... before you raise your brows and get anxious because I am wearing a blazer in suede when it's obviously sunny out here, let me just say or remind my beloved readers (I got 2 regulars the last time I counted, haha) that I'm a banker, which means that my time is mostly spent inside a well ventilated room. So there! Don't fret if you see me in coats, blazers, layers, and the like for I am very well excused! =)

And naturally as a banker, I need to market clients and close sales. I can't do that when I'm glued 8 hours on my desk. I need to go out there and fish clients. So here, I was out doing client calls (squeezing in outfit shoots on the side..LOL).

Pardon that my eyes were squinting here. It's noontime and I didn't have my sunnies. Can you tell that this shoot was unplanned?

There I go again with my slouchy stand. Hate it!

If I'm going to sell this outfit, would you buy it? Would I close a sale? =)
